Istanbul Biennial

 

The 18th Istanbul Biennial first phase is organized under the title "Three-Legged Cat," will be open for free visitation from September 20 to November 23, 2025, at 8 different venues along Istanbul's Beyoğlu-Karaköy line. The buildings hosting the exhibitions are: Elhamra Han, Eski Fransız Yetimhanesi Bahçesi, Meclis-i Mebusan No. 35, Külah Fabrikası, Zihni Han, Galeri 77, Muradiye Han ve Galata Rum Okulu.

During the open call for the first phase of the biennial, approximately 1,500 artists from 105 countries applied. Curator Christine Tohmé reviewed these submissions over three months and then identified 47 artists whose work she believed aligned with the conceptual framework of the exhibition, also conducting studio visits and artist meetings.
